Protecting Students & Families

Tuition Refund Insurance

Helping independent schools protect students and their families is a primary concern for Fred C. Church. We do this in a variety of ways, from ongoing risk mitigation assessments to offering crisis management tools. Today, we are pleased to bring you a program to help safeguard your school and your community of students: Tuition Refund Insurance.

Get Started

Why Tuition Refund Insurance?

Your enrollment contract with students and their parents typically holds them financially responsible to pay you the full amount of tuition and fees, regardless of why they withdraw their child. With Tuition Refund Insurance, an insurance contract pays a portion of the tuition/insured fees when a student withdraws from school for a covered reason.

Our Program Includes Tuition Continuance Coverage

While most coverages are triggered by a withdrawal, in the event of a job loss or death of a tuition payer, students can have their claims paid without having to withdraw from school and can stay enrolled for the remainder of the year.

Number of Schools & Premium Volume

75+ schools enrolled, estimated $6M in overall program premium.

Start Date

Coverage for all causes of loss, except voluntary withdrawal, begins 7/1 of each year. Voluntary withdrawal begins 14 calendar days after the student’s first day of class (the student must regularly attend class during those 14 days).

Pre-existing Conditions

No pre-existing condition exclusion.

Reimbursement Timeline

Average claims closed within 24–48 hours and checks mailed to the school.

Mental Health

Mental health is included in the definition of medical withdrawal; no separate coinsurance percentage is required.

Deductibles

Larger deductible options available for bigger independent schools.

Desired Coverages
*Check the box for each cause of loss you would like to request coverage and indicate a percentage of payment desired in the event of a loss (from 0% to 100%):
Medical Withdrawal of Student
Academic Discharge of Student
Disciplinary Discharge of Student
Death of Tuition Payer
Involuntary Unemployment of Tuition Payer
Disease Contamination
Job Transfer of Tuition Payer
Voluntary Withdraw (Max 70%)
If unsure of the desired coverage, leave blank and we will use the most commonly requested coverages and percentages.
Do you desire optional Tuition Continuance Coverage? (This endorses the policy to provide coverage only for the result of the covered Death of a Tuition Payer or the covered Involuntary Unemployment of a Tuition Payer. The coverage pays the continuing tuition expense to allow the student to complete the school year):

Discharge and Withdrawal History — For the entire student body.
List withdrawal history by type of withdrawal on the left and give number of students withdrawn and the months lost for each withdrawal reason.

Months Lost Example: Student starts on first day of school, Aug. 1. The student then withdrawals Oct. 1. The last day of school is June 1. The months lost for this student would be eight.
