Certified risk managers and organizational personnel concerned with insurance and risk issues may be interested in the upcoming 2012 Business Insurance Risk Management Summit, to be held at the end of February.

The annual conference will focus on several issues this year, including supply chain risk management. The effects of various natural disasters and events in 2011 highlighted the danger that complex global supply chains can pose to business continuity and operations, given the difficulty of managing risk on such a large scale.

According to Business Insurance, sessions covering this issue will address risk management options in light of the limited ability of a business insurance policy to aid continuity. Another major focus will be the growing importance of cyber insurance and the nature of related liabilities.

Specifically, experts will discuss ways to minimize and deal with the risks associated with cyber liability and the ways IT and risk management personnel can collaborate. This sort of cooperation is a necessity for successful management of cyber risks, given the technical nature of the problem.
